Introduction
Before we get into the main content of the 6c Gospel lessons, we must first deal with some preliminary issues. The particular issue we need to look at is the characteristics, significance, and role of the Bible itself before thinking through the storyline and specific teachings of the Before. In order to complete this lesson, first look up and answer the following questions. Afterwards, watch the video which answers the questions and provides some additional devotional materials. Finally, end with a few minutes of meditation on what you have learned and spend some time in prayer thanking God for what He is teaching you in this study.
Begin this lesson by looking through your Bible. Read through the table of contents. Notice the names of the different books of the Bible. Notice how the Bible is divided into Old and New Testaments. Answer the following questions:
1. How many books are in the Bible?
2. How many authors are there? How would you find this information?
3. Look at the book of Exodus. In what culture and time period was this written?
Look at the book of Acts. In what culture and time period was this written?
How many cultures and time periods does the story of the Bible span?
4. Look up the following verses and answer the questions:
Read 2 Timothy 3:16-17 and 2 Peter 1:19-21
Based on these verses, who is the author of the Bible?
Read parts of Psalm 119 and Romans 10:14-17
Based on these verses, how does the Bible shape our lives?
Read Matthew 5:17-20 and 2 Corinthians 1:18-20
Based on these verses, who is the Bible about?
